Nicosia Turkish Municipality (NTM) Cleaning Department teams have been working intensely all the year round 2011 and broke a record of the history of municipal work by implementing the biggest cleaning works. The Department completed the grass cutting work in all districts within the Nicosia boundaries. The teams collected garbage, remove wastes, and swept streets routinely in coordination.  In 2011 besides the Nicosia Cemetery, the other cemeteries have been cleaned comprehensively 3 times before the Bairam of Sacrifice, Ramadan Bairam and Mother’s Day. 

Commercial and domestic wastes have been removed from 29,350 points

As every year, the teams made cleaning and maintenance works in the areas and routes where ceremonies and celebrations are being made on November 15th Republic Day, 20 July Peace and Freedom Day and the 30th August Victory Day.

In 2011, heavy vehicle teams made 2.500 trucks of rubble removal and a total of 8.500 complaints were concluded with the 185 complaint line. The teams removed wastes such as cardboard, branches and garden wastes from 17.800 points and the van crews removed the commercial and domestic wastes from 29.350 points.

Skip buckets in Nicosia Industrial Area and in the outer regions, have been emptied by the teams 5.800 times.
